Science Ideas
1. I learned that without light we wouldn't be able to see. I learned this by going through the experiment we did in class, which was getting into the pitch black cubbys underneath the desk and trying to read the sign even after I gave my eyes some time to adjust I still could read it. It is important to know this in the real world because now we know its a waste of time to try to read in the dark also I now that when it is itch black my eyes will not adjust to it.
2. I also learned that when light is shot out from a lazer pointer in gos out and hits the wall in one straight beam. I learned this when we did the experiment in class. And even though we couldn't see the beam of light because the beam wasnt reflecting off anything that was visible when we shot the beam through chalk dust we could see the beam going in a straight line. It is important to know this in the real world because now I know that rays of light travels in strait beams not spread out everywhere.
3. Another thing I learned is that the reason we see is that when light rays hit the object they bounce off every where and hit our eyes and thats how we see things. I learned this when we did an experiment in class where my group held a pencil inbetween a light bulb and a note book. And when we turned the light bulb on the rays shot out every where and bounced off the pencil and that blocked some of the light from hitting a part of the note book which was dark because it wasnt getting any light and that was the pencils shadow. It is important to know this in the real world because now we know why our shadows are dark because they they dont get light which makes them hard to see. And thats why they are dark.
